Your tyre sidewall is packed with useful information — if you know how to read it.

What Do the Numbers Mean?

You’ll see something like:
315/80 R22.5

Here’s what it tells you:

315 = Tyre width in mm
80 = Height (profile) of the tyre
R = Radial construction
22.5 = Wheel size in inches

Load Index and Speed Rating

These tell you how much weight your tyre can carry and how fast it can safely go.

Why It Matters

If you choose the wrong tyre size or rating, you risk:

Unsafe driving
Faster wear
Legal issues
